Club A2S (Arise to Shine) works with children and young people aged 5-18 who are showing behavioural, emotional or psychological difficulties, especially if this has started having an impact on their family life, their school experiences and their personal development. The main aim of this project is to provide preventative services for children and young people, at an early stage to prevent crises and breakdown. We promote emotional resilience, positive mental health and social inclusion through this young peoples’ talent club.
The Club provides sessions designed to help build a generation of skilled, competent, creative and confident young people. Club A2S engages young people using a range of creative and innovative activities like drama, dancing, singing, arts, photography, life skills and homework help. These fun and inspirational activities boost educational attainment and develop skills and abilities that enables children and young people to cope with various challenges and adversities that they face. It helps overcome exclusion through language education as English is a second language for some of them. Focusing on empowerment, the club helps its members embrace who they really are by exploring and understanding their self- identity. The club offers after school and weekend activities run by volunteers and 2 sessional workers. Referrals are received from parents, schools, social services, family support workers and other professionals.
